作品「天圓地方」的概念來自人類最原始的觀察《周髀算經》中提到「方屬地、圓屬天,天圓地方」 圓和方是天和地象徵。人類對天地的不斷探索尋找,文明的進步與發展,讓我們生活的地方每天不停地變化、轉移。
晚上往澳門,船未泊岸已經看到遠處五光十色,一片繁華,賭場風光,隨處可見,從前澳門殖民地時期寧靜的異國風情,卻漸漸被取代,作品以自身出發,英文字母 “ i”即「我」看你看的澳門演變。我特意運用攝影的藍曬印相法,取其藍色和蒙太奇手法,把時空壓縮在窄長的空間上,從而表達對澳門的海岸線演變印象與幻想。
Round Heaven and Square Earth’s creative concept derives from human’s earliest observation Zhou Bi Suan Jing (one of the oldest and most famous Chinese mathematical texts)stated,’ what is square is Earth, what’s round ais Heaven. Hence the Heaven is round and the Earth is square’. The circle and the square are regarded as emblems of Heaven and Earth. Mankind’s incessant exploration of the universe has contributed to the progress and development of civilization, making our living environment ever changing, in a constant transformation.
If you arrive in Macao at night by boat, you will see a brilliantly glittering coastline before docking. With bustling and flourishing scenes jolting you eyes. Casinos and their neon lights flash everywhere, gradually obliterating Macao’s southern European tranquility of former colonial times.
The work starts from a self-perspective. The character”I” stands for my own (or yours) observation of Macao’s transformation. A particular photographic technique-cyanotype was used for the piece. By using the bluish and montage techniques,I am able to compress time and space into a narrow and long scape to express my feeling and fancy towards the changes of Macao’s coastline.
